For more than ten years, Julian has been working on the film project which was originally presented to him by Johnny Depp. However, it has been confirmed that Julian will no longer be playing a role in the movie, with Oscar stepping in to take over as Nick Tosches, the author of the book. According to IndieWire’s 2011 report, the film centers on “The Divine Comedy,” Dante’s masterpiece, and interweaves two distinct stories. One is set in 14th century Sicily, Italy and features the renowned poet Dante Alighieri, while the other takes place in the fall of 2001 and stars a fictionalized version of Nick Tosches.

The latest tale follows Tosches, an expert on Dante residing peacefully in New York. He suddenly finds himself embroiled in a treacherous and enigmatic underworld when illegal traders approach him to verify a manuscript that could potentially be Dante’s original work. The film appears to be an independent production under the SAG-AFTRA interim agreement.
