After inking a lucrative four-year deal with the Lakers, Anthony Davis wasted no time in using some of his hard-earned cash to acquire a new residence in the Los Angeles region. The impressive mansion is situated in the secure, gated community of Bel Air Crest, nestled amidst the picturesque mountains that lie between Bel Air and San Fernando Valley. According to The Real Deal, the price tag for this lavish property was nothing short of astounding.
During the late 80s and early 90s, an impressive number of more than 200 homes were constructed in Bel Air Crest. The majority of these homes are lavish Mediterranean mansions and come equipped with their own private driveway gates. Some well-known residents at Bel Air Crest include renowned chefs such as Gordon Ramsay and Kathy Gryphon, and even A-list celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West temporarily resided there while their colossal mansion in Hidden Hills was being built.
As per the publicly available records, Davis acquired his new abode for a whopping $31 million and secured a mortgage of $20.1 million to finance the purchase. Interestingly, the property was never listed for sale on any real estate platform. The mansion in question is undoubtedly a sight to behold, boasting the largest and most luxurious living space in the entire locality. Sprawling across 20,000 square feet, the estate sits atop a 3.5-acre promontory, affording breathtaking vistas of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.
As per the property documentation, the house boasts of eight bedrooms and nine and a half bathrooms and was completed in 2010. It was originally constructed for the Chang family, who resided nearby. The building’s design is entirely symmetrical, reminiscent of the White House, and combines elements of an International-style chateau with European influences. In 2016, Ted Foxman, a retired semiconductor executive who then turned to real estate development, purchased this astounding property for exactly $10 million. He spent a considerable amount of money upgrading the large estate’s interiors and landscaping, which is now noticeably more vibrant and lush than before.
Foxman had a penchant for adding pops of bright colors to his home and even took it to the next level by parking a vintage Porsche 356 in the living room, which was painted in a lovely aqua hue. Working with interior designer Lonni Paul from L.A., Foxman created a beautiful and unique home that was featured in Elle Decor magazine the previous year. The house boasts a solarium-like atmosphere thanks to the massive dome atop the double-height vestibule. There are also numerous chambers, including a music room, games room with a wet bar, wine cellar, and movie theatre. Despite its size, the real star of the property is the view and the 120-foot-long Olympic-quality pool. There are additional features such as a poolside cabana, vast lawns, and a full-size tennis court.
Davis once owned a luxurious estate in Westlake Village that he bought for $7.5 million back in 2018. However, he sold it two years later for a huge loss of one million dollars. On the other hand, Foxman managed to make three times the money he spent on the Bel Air property when he sold it to Davis, but not before accounting for taxes and renovation expenses. Now, Foxman has settled into a smaller mansion in Encino that boasts a basketball court and covers 13,000 square feet of living space, which he purchased for $13.8 million.
